What exactly is a “Medical Facial” anyway?

FUZION chemical peelsSo by now, you are most likely familiar with a spa facial and any of the beauty and day spas around. But do you know the difference between a regular facial and a medical facial?

A medical facial will typically be less relaxing, pampering and more treatment-oriented with an emphasis on medical tools and prescriptions to help change and improve your skin. Basically, more stuff, less “fluff.” Each treatment is customized to the needs of the individual and could include microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, peeling and will almost always include acne surgery (the medical term for extractions).

Most faces have a variety of clogged pores that need extracting. When we “pop” our own pimples (typically with dirty fingernails!) we create a huge mess that can lead to scarring and hyperpigmentation. When done properly by a medical professional the pore will be extracted with no residual damage to the skin.

We recommend a maintenance medical facial treatment at minimum four times a year and for someone with problem skin every 6 – 8 weeks.
